AdRem iTools
Scanner
In general, the Scanner utility within AdRem iTools is used to discover open ports and services running on a
given host, check their current status and response time, and scan the whole local network to detect nodes within it. All the
data obtained by this tool can be printed and exported to a file (XML, HTML, Microsoft Excel, comma delimited file).
In the service discovery operation, iTools Scanner produces a listing of all (running and failed) services discovered on a host, along with basic data about them such as response time (if the service if running), description, protocol, port, and status. Users can easily specify the timeout in milliseconds as well as select from the list specific network services that should be scanned.
If you select the option to scan for open ports, the Scanner utility will detect all the ports opened on a selected computer, providing their number and describing what services are running on them. You may select the range of ports to scan, select to scan only the well known ports or scan only for trojans from a list. You can also build your own list of ports or services to scan.
Finally, you can use the network scan option within the AdRem iTools package to detect all active computers in the network. In this case, the tool provides basic information about each discovered node, such as name, address, system, location, and response time. This operation is also configurable - you can specify the start and end number of IP addresses to scan, select the SNMP community to scan, and choose to scan only SNMP nodes.
